I found this 1999 Connecticut D while going through some change. It really looks interesting but is it? Forgive me I'm new to coin collecting/hunting!

The coin has a mixture of dark gray, silver, and bronze colors. The sides appear almost like a bronze/silver sandwich both colors fighting for dominance.

Your kind advice is greatly appreciated :)

that's probably due to someone painting it or it was exposed to the environment to cause that color change, just PMD I am afraid

Ground find. This is how they look when a recent quarter is found metal detecting. All mine look like that before the tumbler!

Sometimes people use a magic marker on them and turn the black, then carry them in their pocket for a time. It make the tops of the devices show silver at the color wears away. It gives it that antique look. I've heard of people finding dark looking coins and doing the same to get a color break on tops of devices and makes them look neat. Collectable? More like spendable. The best question you should ask yourself is: "Would I buy that?" Most people want nice looking BU coins on the States series. They can be found in change.

Carry it longer in your pocket and watch the silver come out even more. But not too long, as it will completely go away and no longer look antiqued.
