There is a book on fakes coming out from the American Numismatic Society in early 2015 on these pieces and their counterfeits. Keep an eye out. There is a book called Krause. They come out by centuries (i.e., 19thC). A good investment. Your coin is Mexico City ... note the little circle above the M ... use a glass ... the assayer is FM ... which tells me your piece is WORN since F is gone or faint.

Buy the book before the coin ... UK.

Welcome too Coin Community sideshow2, you're correct this site has alot to offer :). Is there any chance you can upload pictures of the coin in question please, because the best way to get an idea of the authenticity on here would be with a visual representation. I use tinypic to create the right image size for pictures on here, it's free. Select upload and find the image, then re-size for message board 640*480. Then select the option that looks like [img random text img] copy and paste that into here and your images will be ready :).
