I started working on another Ike Dansco 8176 for fun. Here is the break down of the costs so far. All non silver coins purchased near face value ($.85 - $1.20). The business strike silvers were purchased for $8 each and the silver proofs for $11 each. I'm not completely done but here is the progress so far.

How were you able to find an Ike for 85 cents? Or is that 85 cents over face?

It was 85 cents total. This one takes a bit of luck and patience. I've been able to purchase (on ebay buy it now) bulk lots of items (various) denominations and 1971 - 1981 Mint sets below face value. Did the seller find some coins and not even bother to add the face value of all the coins or did they count the lots with SBAs as quarters? I don't know, but I'm sure glad I came across them !

Very nice and especially impressive for the cost.

That '73-P looks special from here.

Cool collection. I misread the subject of the thread as a near 'fake' set of Ike dollars. I think it would be cool to have a set of all fakes and counterfeits.

That would be cool. One day I would also like to get the Daniel Carr fantasy pieces as well.
