Just thought I would show what 70\30 brass looks like in comparison to other metals. This is a 70\30 yellow brass screw.

If you go through lots of boxes you'll find these yellow cents. I keep em just for the heck of it cause they're neat looking.

Yes your right Raymo,I have definetly came across a few of those and still have them yet there is significant difference between those and this one,in color and strike significance.

Nice! The pic is a bit fuzzy so could you try to describe any physical differences, if any, that you notice, other than color?

Well the strike is beautiful like a newly die striked coin, very sharp details from cheek bones to memorial also its a luster that turning in light you can see the copper color slightly within the yellow tone which is spot on for the 70\30 brass.I have seen many one cent pennies that have turned the zinc due to the mint rinsing and the penny looks yellow yet this one is different in comparisons of weight, strike , color , so now its off to the races buddy.

Ahh, now I see the yellowish color that the OP is talking about. However I still don't think it's anything. In roll searching about $200-300 FV, I've come across maybe 5 or 6 of those.

Color is off. Yours is one of those brassy cents.
Have seen many like it.

This is a picture of the 1974 P aluminum from the smithsonian website before they pulled it. I want you to look at the die markers, on the bottom right of the coat also on the obverse a piece of strengthen step in the middle left hand side of stairs, the 70\30 brass was struck with same die markers. I just wanted to let you know it was struck from same die as the aluminum P.
