Is this too good to be true? IMO this coin would grade AU58-MS60 and be worth between 5-10K. Is it even real? It looks correct to me, but the color looks odd, and why in the world isn't it already graded? In a word....scary! Thoughts please. The seller is also selling a 1916-D Merc that is also amazing. Just seems too amazing for 2 coins like these to be sitting around. http://www.ebay.com/itm/36088443408..._1143wt_1042Edited by edweather 03/18/2014 12:35 pm

The coin is still listed. I cut and repasted the link and it appears to be working now.

He has dealt altered baseball cards according to reviews a lot of shady stuff with baseball cards.. but he also does tons of business according to reviews he ships thing so crappy they get damaged...
I wouldn't let my kids get cards from that dealer.

IMO, I would steer clear of this seller. Might be real, might not be.

It's so cheap because it still has 6 days left on the bid. I'd imagine this listing will reach the thousands by Monday.
I'll echo that I'd steer clear of this dealer. His photos are very high ISO--makes it harder to spot a polished-off mintmark. I'm not enough of an expert to spot all the die markers, but I wouldn't bite without some sort of certification--especially on a coin in such high grade.

Yeah, just way too risky without guarantee from seller on authenticity. I'm sure this will be up into the thousands soon. Lots of gamblers out there with $$. I did message seller about a guarantee...let's see what he says. edit: There is an MS65 for sale at Heritage for 90K, and one could argue that the 1922 in the ebay listing has a stronger obverse. http://coins.ha.com/c/item.zx?inven...301023#PhotoJust the "possibility" that the one in the ebay list "could" be real drives me crazy

Looks legit to me too, though the color is weird. I can't collect enough cans and bottles on the roadsides in my neighborhood to allow me to put up a decent bid.

Hum I might be nuts but it looks like the "D" was removed.

If the D was removed it doesn't explain how the rest of the obverse has all the die 2 characteristics. If it was originally a 22-D, the rest of the obverse would look like a 22-D also.

It's very possible, and it doesn't make sense that a 50K coin sitting around ungraded. If this coin is real it's worth every bit of it. I compared this one with an MS65 on Heritage and it's just as good. I can't afford it anyway, but would be curious to know if seller would guarantee it. I think ebay buyer protection is 30 days.

Odd that the seller will not pay a few dollars to have that graded and authenticated. That alone would bet him a lot more money.

Well I'm sticking that the "D" was removed. Plus his picture has all the light on the top of the coin and dark at the bottom.
