This coin looks no wear, if there are any weaknesses in the higher points they are due to weak strike. Any ideas of approx. grade if it is UNC? *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***Edited by bobo13 03/20/2014 9:46 pm

This is the Fancy 5 date type of the 1865 IHC. I am not sure how the uneven toning on the obverse will affect the grade, but I think I do see some minor wear on hair above ear and ribbon. mid AU This post should probably be moved to US Classic Coin Grading

with the slight wear on ribbon and hair above the ear. That is a nice IHC, but I think that this would be an AU55-58.

an attractive AU55, a chance at 58. Did this really find its way to Bulgaria?

The coin was purchased from UK. From the pics you can not know 100% whether is UNC or AU, I think there is No wear and sent the coin to PCGS, but will probably be back after 4-5 weeks. My question was: If this coin is UNC, what Grade will get from PCGS with similar surface? Assuming that there is no wear and it`s uncleaned.

It doesn't have to show much loss of detail for AU--only evidence of rubbing from circulation. The second pictures are very helpful to see rub on the high points of the obverse. I think it's AU--but a very nice example, AU55 or better.
