Civil War era coins are very appealing to me.

What is your favorite coin form that era?

While you're answering, be sure to toss a guess out on this beauty of the Philadelphia ball.

Thanks for looking

Obviously a proof. Pictures aren't great so I can't say for sure. Should be in the PR-62/63

Could be weakly struck for a proof, the link brings up the same sized photo, no blow up enlargement, tough, looks like the holder is scratched or strike is weak so I'll guess PR64

Many examples are found with proof-like surfaces when it comes to the 1862 dime. There were a limited number of die marriages so with the right diagnostics you can whittle down to which obverse and reverse marriage you have.

I have yet to place this coin under my 1200x scope and will have to do so in order to look for certain diagnostics that will reveal which die marriage was used. I can only see by eye the medium level date which leads to a half dozen candidates.

Locating PL Business Strikes is my passion for this series and this dime serves that purpose well.

Thanks to all for looking and Westcoin, anytime you want to trade a Liberty Seated dime for a stellar example of a Two Cent Piece, you let me know because I drool over those would love one for my slowly building 7070. Any die crack examples would really make me

Only from my cold dead hands they will pry my 2¢ pieces away from me

My trouble is once I get a nice 2¢ piece I don't want to let it go, especially after I sold off my MS66 set, that was a heart breaker, which I have not fully recovered from, and I doubt I'll be in the financial position to complete a set like that again. I think my highest TPG graded one is currently MS64 only.
