Really that would suck....It was either going to be a score or a horrible waste... I'll wait for a few more opinions...

It might be the lighting, but Lincoln looks, well for a better way to describe it - weird. The details of the outer devices are strong in your example, and it looks like Lincoln is pretty weak - again, unless its the angle of the light. I'd make sure it doesn't stick to a magnet and see if you can get a very accurate weight of the coin as well. The 1955 is one of the more counterfeited coins there are. There are some resident experts that have photos of a few Die scratches that are in key places on the reverse that should help decide whether this is authentic or not. There should be an scratch that forms an "X" near one of the "T's" and there is supposed to be one North/South scratch just below the "T" in cent I believe. Here is John Wexler's write up of the 1955 DDO - You'll have to scrutinize the coin in hand against Wexler's examples. http://doubleddie.com/302101.htmlI suggest concentrating on Lincoln's Bust details because this coin looks awful suspicious with the lighting in the pics above. It almost looks like a Lincoln from a Zinc coin with the design of a 55 DDO. As for a comparison, take a look at this: http://www.coppercoins.com/lincoln/...ie_state=eds

I am far from an expert but I question it being real. lincolns beard and face look off and It looks very weakly struck and blurry where the fields meet his back and between the bow tie and chin to me. "It was either going to be a score or a horrible waste" All things considered much more likely its a waste in situations like the one you describe. if it looks too good to be true it probably is, you need to be hypercritical and take no chances you cant get out of. where did you buy it? ebay and reputable auction places should give you back your money if its a fake.

Like stated above, the portrait of Lincoln is far weaker than the motto and year. It looks weird to me.

Something wrong there. Bust just doesn't look right. Looks like a fake, just my opinion.

the seller has 100% sold alot stuff on that account is over 2 years old they didnt sell any coins so I was hoping that is was the picture was bad and they did not label it as a DDO cuase they just listed it. It was a hedge bet I will look it over when I get it either way I will keep it as a life lesson.. the ear and the y in liberty

No offense but, this, Quote: either way I will keep it as a life lesson..
makes NO sense to me. Return it, lesson learned. Absolutely no reason to take that hit. imho.

OH Boy, now what... should I wait till I get coin to see if it was just bad lighting or photo or should I just contact them now and try to cancel.
Wait check it, return, charge-back or should I report it as fake?

I am with amida, their is no reason to not get your money back when ebay has protections built in for you to use in case it does happen.

A full refund is really warranted here--that bust looks more like a Lincoln impersonator.

The only time I've had an issue was when I got a ripped open envelope w/nothing in it held together with a seal from my local post office saying they received it damaged and w/o contents and I contacted the seller and got a refund quickly so I'm not sure whats the best method to handle this one. I would probably first get in touch w/ebay so they are aware of it asap and then maybe try to work it out with the seller if they will agree to cancel and refund. I feel like I would contact ebay first so you've got them In the loop and things are documented just In case the seller tries to fight it somehow.

Quote: Wait check it, return, charge-back or should I report it as fake? Wait, inspect, and then report it to ebay as being a fake. You will be refunded and you probably won't have to return it. That way you can keep your lesson and not be out the money.
