I'm guessing MD...Thanks in advance for opinions that are much more educated than mine.

You are correct, the D is reduced and therefore Machine Doubling. Good call!

Note how the area in question makes that side of the mint get thinner, reducing the size of the mint mark. On a RPM it is enlarged with the punching not exactly on center.

Take a check on coppercoins.com when you get a roll/rolls before you search. That might help you develop you eye. But don't limit you self to what is known. I figure, it a doubled die happened on a series, I will check for these on all series. I've changed my thinking on the post 1985 cents as the doubled dies are different from that time forward. The doubled die on the post 1985 cents on the reverses seem to be limited to the central areas. The EPU is as far north and the steps is pretty farthest south. But on the post 1985 you will still find trails on the outside devices. So you check for these in those area. The pre 1985 cents you find doubling in different places because of the hubbing process was different. Rarely do you find doubling in the center, and more doubling on the outside rim areas. The obverses, I still search all the same way. Date/mint mark/LIBERTY/Ear/Eye/Motto. Doubled eyelids are almost existant on the post 1985 cents. There was one on a 1994 that they thought at one time was a doubled eyelid, but later determint it was damage to the die. My tidbit for the day.
