17No Whitman folders of Great Britain Coins. many have a number of coins and the total coin number is 32 1937- halfpennies, 12 1911 to 1940 half crowns, 12 1911 to 1940 florins, 18 1937 to 1956 farthings, 22 1941 to 1967 half crowns, 28 1937 to 1967 threepence pieces, 32 1937 to 1967 sixpence, 17 1937 to 1951 shillings, 16 1902 to 1936 halfpennies, 31 1953 to 1966 shillings, 9 1902 to 1936 sixpence, 5 1881 to 1901 pennies, 24 1902 to 1929 pennies, 21 1902 to 1945 silver threepence, 5 1902 to 1936 shillings, 23 1930 to 1966 pennies. That is a total of 307 coins many of which are silver. I cannot comment on the condition as I am not an expert, but some are worn, others like new
I was wondering what value ish youd pay for the following? Or value estimate as thete atent spevific coins named

It's very difficult to give any idea of a value without a list of the coins and their conditions. There may be key dates in EF / UNC condition - like 1950 and 1951 pennies and 1946 or 1949 threepences - or it may just be common date coins in average or worse than average circulated condition. And only the pre-1947 silver coins would have any bullion value. Would you be able to get a full list and/or photos?

The guy who is selling them inherited them from.his lste father and says knowing his dad they will all be fine though dome older ones are a bit worn. I'm just wondering on what price range would be decent to try get them for..17 folders and 307 coins. Sounds like a fair few silver aswell..ill see uf I can get pictures but based on the abive and what I said what kind of price would be worth offering..50...100.150+? Edited by Greg8904

As the others mentioned I'd get a ballpark selling figure of the keydates off the net, then any non key dates silver wise look at bullion value. I'm guessing the folders are complete? Which is cool because even if you have fillers in there, you can upgrade. As has been mentioned it is rather difficult to make an estimate, on something that cannot be seen. So you would be the best person to find an estimate as you've seen the collection, If they are awaiting an offer-find a price you're comfortable with and see if they accept. I guess they must be a friend, and understand you want to be fair with pricing, just don't overprice yourself ;).

Ah I see they arent full thete are midding coins.the folders them.selves are say 3 quid a pop right.(not selling just workung out a good price ha) then say 40 silver coins..im wanting to collect rather than sell but working out a general value helps me decide how much to pay. What would ypu..based on what youve read?

To give any number based on the info you gave would be irresponsible in my opinion. Heck, I can't even understand half of what you've written. I would take to a local coin shop to have them give you a quick appraisal. It would likely be free.

I really would be taking a stab in the dark at
17*3=£54(1)
12 half crowns at .500 about 84 grams of silver.(I know there's more weight, but I've taken silver content only) £35.28(2)
12 Florins at 0.500 about 67.8 '' '' ''... £28.48(3)
16 Silver coins unknown amount per variety £6.72(4)
267 other coins at (a)10p each £26.70 (b)20p each=£53.40 (c)30p each=£80.10 (d)40p each=£106.80 (e)50p each=£133.50
Now the above figures are low ball values with silver coinage at about current silver bullion value(0.42p per gram). The folders at £3 each and the rest of the coinage is amassed into one using any of the 5 figures, because of the variance of the coins and with dates/condition unknown.
£124.48=1+2+3+4=(X)
x+a=£151.18
x+b=£177.88
x+c=£204.58
x+d=£231.28
x+e=£257.98
The above sums are complete guesses, but may help with figures.

Gregg you have answered your own question HE had other coins but sold through Spink well he had good stuff that sold now hes got a load of rubbish that he wants to push on. I would really only offer rubbish money say around 50 GBP if any coins in those folders where key dates or high grade they would be gone by now. When I had my shop seen/offered so many blue whitman folders and ALWAYS key dates missing mostly just pocket change. yours Michael selling on ebay since Jan 1999 My web site since 1998 First mail order coin list 1978 opened my firt shop 1982 |

Biz has good advice above. The good stuff is sold, this is what's left.
The folders are essentially of no value, nothing.
Fifty Pounds would be a good starting offer. Raise to sixty-five Pounds, then walk away.
