Do you think this IHC struck on a gold planchet is worth $500,000? If you had $500,000 to spend on one coin, would it be this one?

I wouldnt buy it unless I had billions to my name.

Is it worth it, if someone buys it it is. Id bet thats the only one of those and one of those intentional "errors" in my opinion. Someone at the mint that day had to be having fun with it.

Its probably used as more of a show piece to get people to check out their other listings but if someone wanted to pay that then they can.

That's been on ebay for ever. Don't expect it to sell anytime soon. The seller is a very knowledgeable error dealer.
If I'm going to spend a half a million dollars, there are so many high grade keys I'd consider before this.
What's really the FMV of this coin? Whatever one is willing to pay for it I guess.

The worst thing about this listing is that it provides all the detail neccessary for fakes to be made in China (including a bogus but correctly numbered PCGS holder) by next week....

The guy's got 8 listings with prices ranging from 50k-1.5m....
So we can rule out that he's just posting these for people to see the rest of his listings...
I gotta wonder what he lists these for.

He is advertising.
If he needs to sell they will probably come up on Heritage or similar, after he has gained his advertising response to be more confident of a lower estimate.

I would never spend that much via ebay, even if I had the ready cash. Even so, such a piece should be verified independently before even considering a bid, at THAT price level.

Technically, it's not a unique error--Byers is also selling a 1900 struck on a $2.5 gold planchet for $600,000. There are others too.
I guess this is the IHC for someone who has a every other variety in top grade? I couldn't find an auction price for these gold IHCs.

Exactly. You don't sell $500K coins on ebay.

If whoever can sell $500k on ebay, that would be the cheapest seller fee compared to any auction houses, even with paypal fee added.

Barry,
Just checked. The maximum single transaction you can send is $10k, not sure about eCheck? A lot smaller then I though.
