I'll be in Boston for a couple days and then Rhode Island. Hopefully, it is around the same time as my vacation.

Here is something to remember about coin shows. Check to see if there is entrance fee, parking fee for your car. Check if possible the amount of money a dealer must pay for a spot. Check if it is a multi day show. The reasons I say this is my experience with coin shows is the more it cost to get in, the more they charge for parking, the more a dealer must put out to be there, the prices of coins will also be much higher. Not always true but for me that is what I see at coin shows all the time. In the Chicago area there are a minimum of 3 coins shows a month and occationally a few more. The normal ones have the cheapest prices for coins and the bigger ones have the higher prices for coins. An example was the recent coin show at the Rosemont Convention Center. Coin prices were at least 25% more than at the standard shows in this area.

Maybe its just me, but I cannot seem to find what state coinfest is going to be in. The web site says Old Greenwich, so I assume its going to be in CT.

180 miles from Boston puts it about the same distance from me a little further west. Hmmmmm, does sound like fun. I think I may look into this. Hopefully I can meet some of you folks there finally. Should be a really short trip for Mila_Cent also......

HI folks... thought I would drop in and say hello, for those who do not know me my name is Jon Lerner president of Scarsdale Coin and creator and CFO of Coinfest....that's Chief Fun Officer.... FYI my partner in the Coinfest shindig is Laura Sperber of Legend Numismatics.... Since we both attend so many coin shows per year and no what is good and bad about each we wanted to set up a show that captures true collecting!! In simple English... we wanted to put some fun back into coin shows..... Coinfest will be unique..... its not the largest show you will ever attend....save that honor for ANA and Orlando in Jan... nope we wanted a show that everyone could have a really good time.... the dealers, the coin collectors, and heck even the local family who might get hooked with the hobby..... Coinfest has a great mix of dealers...there is something for everyone..... small coins to large rarities.... but there is a lot more....great exhibits!! did I mention that we have the pleasure to exhibit the unique *** 1870-S Half Dime *** currently valued at 2.5 million ..... and we have even more announcements about special events happening... One West Coast dealer who is flying in to walk the show mentioned that he didnt get the chance to go to Woodstock but that Coinfest is a coin collectors equilvant! AND I tHINK HE IS CORRECT..... The buzz is everywhere.... if you want more info just visit our website https://www.TheCoinfest.com If you have young ones...bring them along....we have YN programs hosted by Larry Gentile (he's great with kids) plus Sun afternoon a special magician who is as good if not better than Chris Angel and not scary!! Have your better half complaining about you spending time at coinshows.... The NY metro area has great things for your other half to keep busy.... so mark your calander ... fly, drive, train in and have a great time! PS: Just Carl... its all FREE... FREE PARKING...FREE TO GET IN...IN FACT 1ST 100 PEOPLE SAT GET A FREE MORGAN/PEACE SILVER DOLLAR....1ST 100 PEOPLE SUN GET A FREE RedBook....

TheCoinfest, that is a great promo. I can't make it as I live on the WEST coast. Any thoughts for the west?
BTW, you need great photography on your website, check out my thread titled "eye candy" for a very high end source of error coin imagery.
good luck, errrrrror

Welcome to the forum Jon. I do hope you decide to stay around longer than just this one post. What you have listed here sounds like a great time for all, and I think I may be making that trip.
Regardless, just wanted to say welcome and enjoy your time here with us.
