Another junk box refugee. It is actually much clearer in hand than on the scan.

Surely this doesn't qualify as US colonial, does it, oh master?

I'd pay junk bin prices for coppers like that all day. And the date on that one can still be read!

Cant say for sure but weigh your coin. I would bet it is a contemporary counterfeit.

It is the junk bin for the right reason. What is the point unless you put a hole in it and use as a washer.

What is the point? I don't know... What is the point of anything we collect?

Ben ... notice Arkie's comment ... consider yourself JUST past this level in which ~ 50% of our Colonial Coinage was predominantly counterfeit halfpence and foreign coinage into the 19thC. Keep growing Ben ... is $250 for a UNIQUE Kleeberg out of your league? I did promise an initiation incentive present ...

Yes ... contemporary counterfeit ... for FOUR basic reasons ... the weight differential, the end ribbons, the weird top of the head HORN feature and the most common GIII Irish contemporary counterfeit 1/2d are indeed dated 1769 ... as is yours ... value $25 ... up ... CCs are worth more than the regal counterparts in most cases in lower grades - particularly for the Irish which is ~100X more rare than the most common dated 1775 GIII English 1/2d counterparts. Ben ... don't buy it ... same your money for that UNIQUE Kleeberg CC2R ... COMING SOON ... <BG>.
William Anton taught me well Ben ... but JPL can't collect everything ... <VVBG>.

Thank you so much.
The weight differential makes perfect sense.
To me, the end ribbons appear to correspond with the 1769 2nd bust, with the lower ribbon pointing to the G of Georgius. If the problem is the knot, I admit that the wear makes it hard for me to read that plainly.
If I can tell what you mean by the horns, they appear to correspond (at least to me) to the top of the laurel wreath on the king.
I'm not complaining; I'd just like to understand better.

See at K-12 at the top of the head - devil horns - if you sell on E-Bay call it non-regal and horn top head ... should sell well - $25-50. Put it in the U.S. Colonial section minimally - avoid the UK section - they don't care for these pieces - in general - there is one guy in the U.K. that tells me he collects UK CCs ... but ignore him ... HE IS ALL ALONE <VVBG>.
