Here's a Nero sestertius on ebay UK where the seller says in the write up, "Don't ask me if it's authentic. Yes, it is."

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SUPERB-AN...em461d45851a

But it's not. Here's a match from Ancient Coins Forum's fake pages:

Report it to ebay, there still may be enough time left for them to pull it.

So...it's an authentic fake?

Some people will fall for just about anything if the sales pitch is good.

Additional information

The sesterces coined in the mint of Rome are heavier, but this type of coin is minted in Tarraco (SPAIN) are the last imperial coinage in the Iberian peninsula, and are somewhat lighter weight.

Someone has obviously queried the weight.

Shall I get the rope?

The auction ended without any bids, so either ebay pulled it or the seller did.

There were bids on it, I reported it, I am surprised it has gone so quickly.

Perhaps in the future, if someone spots a fake on ebay, and the fact can be backed up by other known fakes, if it is posted on the forum, anyone who is interested can notify ebay. If more than one person reports the same item, it might be withdrawn quickly. Just a thought.

Clearly modern--I would guess an obvious copy sold to tourists--it shouldn't fool anyone.
