This guy is making money off them so if I can ship them inside a letter, I'd make money too

I shipped like 30 or 40 Buffalo nickels inside letters and only one got lost.

I'm not sure what to charge though for shipping. I was charging 90 cents to ship the Buffalo nickels but can combine a second one for free. You might think this is a lot but that was because paypal takes 30 cents for transaction fee's.

Late last year I sold a bunch (maybe 20) of Susan B Anthony dollars via 1 oz First Class Mail, no tracking. They were only worth a few bucks each, and it worked out pretty well. Not one was lost. Buyers knew what they were paying for. Made it very affordable to buyers and I was able to make a little (very little) profit. I stopped doing it because it became more trouble than it was worth.

I'm not sure I totally understand the question... Lol... So if my response makes no sense disregard, lol.

But... I just paid like $.69 cents shipping for a silver coin that arrived today in a 2x2 wrapped in 2 pieces of plain white paper and a regular envelope with a "Forever" stamp on it. Actually, I get lower value coins (-$20) in regular envelopes often... either just in a 2x2, plastic flip or even small baggies folded inside a paper. I may have even received a Morgan or two this way as well.
Actually, I've received one of my most valuable coins in a 2x2 and regular envelope/stamp as well... I wasn't overly pleased about that one though (the shipping method that is, not the coin. The coin I was more than pleased with... It's still my best cherry pick to date)

Yes, I say ....but do as above noted,,,place coin in flip or 2X2,, tape to cardboardy stiffener the coins (Flips),,, stiffener in envelope so it can go through machines at posty office....If it is fat (Thickness wise)then that is no good,, keep it thin ...

Unless it's a dime or cent, I try to avoid letter type envelopes. Also depends on value.

$20 FMV is the most I'll go without tracking.

I mailed an Eisenhower dollar in a normal envelope, to South America

Used a doubled over piece of "HEAVY" advertizing paper. Hit it hard with 8-10 staples.

Used normal international postage rate.

Got there fine, in the regular international 10 day snail mail time.

I've received several coins from the States including Morgan and Ike dollars in normal letters - I just ask that the senders put them in a 2x2 and then wrap it in some corrugated cardboard. No awkward questions asked my end and letters delivered by the postman in the usual way.

Sending anything bulky in a paper letter size envelope is not a good idea. Maybe a small, light single coin (or two) will make it through fine but personally I wouldn't risk anything of value. Letter envelopes go through sorting machines at over 30 mph and into certain size openings. If it is too thick or too heavy there is a greater chance of jamming in the machine which can shred the envelope.

I've used these for years no issues, just make sure you have a sturdy envelope or tape the edges.

Raw coins I sent out in plastic flips taped to the a copy of the transaction details. You can insure letter size envelopes and that provides tracking. I have done this for U.S. deliveries as well as to Portugal and Lithuania without a problem.
