Looks like some of the Mercury dimes I abused when silver was dirt cheap. I subjected them to...well...you name it and I did it.

I'd guess heat as well. Whether it was an oven, torch, or frying pan (Pam does not tone them any faster, I tried).

Nice hunk o' silver though

It's pretty easy, my guess is blow torch. Coins get ugly like that when heated up and not done right.
