I noticed this morning that I've reached Master Club status at the RCM. I'm not sure if I should be happy about it or not, probably just means I've been spending too much money on money and time to slow a bit ! Lol I have to admit I'm kind of excited though, so does this mean free shipping from now on and a few other perks ? Sorry if this has been discussed before I did a search and couldn't find anything.

Lol Yes, Dave...its really means that you spent $1000 in the period, less than a year. So technically - that fact only only the achievement. But together with this, you got free shipping - this the main advantage, and the week of the MC release. Congratulations!

In fact it's a status given by the Government that reminds you that you're spending maybe too much ($1000+) and so you should evaluate your spendings.

Received a very strange e-mail today. A warning that my Master's club membership is set to expire on 04/02/2015.....a mere 51 weeks from now. I need to "Spend $ or more for membership renewal" and they added this gem at the end "Did you know? You've saved at least $ in shipping in the past year". Clearly, IT at the Mint are at it again. I was confused at first but then had a good laugh at their expense. But they did list the perceived benefits of membership.

As mentioned, strangest message form RCM, I guess their marketing genius at work, talked to rep last week regarding recent survey and confirmed that outside firm botched that up too.

I'm really concerned that they want me to "spend $ or more". So they want money, and what? a pint of blood? a kidney? my soul? I may need a new hobby. Just one more shot at them, they even have the date backwards. It should be 02/04/2015. DD/MM/YYYY Added: I noticed a note on the website today saying this: So they are stopping shipments and phone orders for almost a week for a system upgrade? Can you imagine any other retail business in the world shutting down for a week like that?

Just a note on your standard date/time format. The international standard (aka "SI") is YYYY MM DD HR Min sec so both of those are wrong, and not in accordance with 'SI'. https://www.cl.cam.ac.uk/~mgk25/iso-time.html As for the master's club, despite spending my annual requirement - THIS past MONTH... I received the following emails this morning (to all three of my emails addresses I might add) Don't risk losing exclusive Masters Club benefits- - "act now! Spend $ or more for membership renewal Your Masters Club membership will expire 04/05/2015 Don, "Here is a friendly reminder how Masters Club membership is achieved: Eligibility is reached when your purchases total $999.99*CDN or more over a 12-month period Once you qualify for Masters Club membership you will enjoy benefits for 1 year On your 1 year membership anniversary date, we will review your previous purchases for 12 months to determine your eligibility for re-qualification"

Dcadon, your explanation of MC status is how I expected it to work, but it seems there is a slight tweak to it. each month mine has been re-evaluated and the end date extended.
for instance I only recently reach MC status (nov 2013). roughly each month my profile has been updated and the end date has been extended. it currently says April 5, 2015. Based on the description of the MC status your explanation is correct, but how they are implementing it is a bit different. for those of us who are on the edge of MC status this can make a difference.

Thanks Don, but the ISO date format is the standard for electronic (so called machine) data. It's actually YYYY-MM-DD; the dashes count.
In correspondence and general use in Canada, the most appropriate and generally accepted format is DD/MM/YYYY. It's also the format the Mint normally uses in their e-mails, press releases and website.

maybe a new topic should be assigned to the date format ISO 8601 IS the new and accepted standard for use of date codes in Canada, and internationally, YYYY-MM-DD, If a different code is being used, it should be indicated (ie mm dd yyy written under the code). (yes, the dash is important, and omitted in error on my previous post) Regarding the Mint, I beg to differ, the mint has no 'standard' - I've received invoices in the same month where the month indicator has been in either/or the first position or the second position. eg: 16-02-2014 and 02-22-2014. Even within an organization such as the Mint - not all can agree. ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Date_a...on_in_Canada

follow up on my 'STATUS' email referenced above, I received a follow up email - to all three accounts - indicating an error had been made due to 'systems update'. The emails were sent in error. An excerpt follows: "You may have received an email regarding your Masters Club status. This email was sent in error as a result of an internal systems update. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Your customer status and account remain unchanged. You may check your Masters Club Status and expiry at anytime in the "MY PROFILE" section of mint.ca."

I received the same email earlier saying I need to act now before my MC expires April 3, 2015. I just got the followup email saying the first one was an error: You may have received an email regarding your Masters Club status. This email was sent in error as a result of an internal systems update. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Your customer status and account remain unchanged. You may check your Masters Club Status and expiry at anytime in the "MY PROFILE" section of mint.ca.

From the top of that wiki page: "This article's factual accuracy is disputed. Please help to ensure that disputed statements are reliably sourced. See the relevant discussion on the talk page. (August 2013)" Even wiki users can't agree. Not that I said anything about invoices, but they may have the wrong format because they are produced via Microsoft software (Dynamics AX) and the programmers at the Mint didn't change the standard US format used in the form template when they upgrade a couple of years ago. Geesh this really went off topic. Maybe we should agree to disagree?

I also received the MC email advisory. Of course I now realise that it was a glitch. But when I first read it, I was thinking it was somewhat ironic. If I had been able to purchase the glass frog coins from the mint, it would have helped toward maintaining my MC status. The mint was "awaiting stock", so I had to purchase them elsewhere.
