I have been buying a lot of silver eagles ( ASE) lately.

Looking at a stack I saw one had a mint mark (W)
Since bullion ASE's have no mint mark, this is a
first year burnished uncirculated mint boxed coin.

My guess is it might have come from a 2006 set that
was broken up.

These have a high greysheet value.

What are your thoughts, should I send this coin in to be slabbed, so that I might be able to sell it better. I don't have a original box they came in.

I already have one in my ASE collection.

Itd basically be a push getting it graded. The 69s sell for about 45 50 on ebay and from the spot on the reverse itd almost certainly get that so your gain would basically be offset by the grading cost.

I see what you mean basebal21 .... And agree with those numbers.

Maybe I read it wrong .. I thought the greysheet puts the value at $80.

I was just thinking without the box and COA ... This would be a hard coin to resell

Greysheet may have it at that, some shops may be able to get that too. Its one of those things though where its common enough ebay drives down the price with all the listings.

Some may want the box and coa, I dont think it would be much of an issue though. A lot of people would just stick that right into an album anyway.

Congratulation. I guess you've paid spot price for it.....

You can always listing it on Buy/Sell section and see how things go. It's free to list vs ebay charge 10%.

That is a nice looking ASE and I would grab ANY W that was selling on par with its bullion counterparts.

W mintage of 460k vs. 10 million for the bullion

I agree that getting it graded would not be such a good idea. The cost for grading one coin would be more than the value of the coin itself and with moderns there is usually a minimum submission of 5 coins unless you can combine it with a dealer submission..

The NGC MS70 goes for around $160 the MS69 around $40-50

BUT:

The NGC MS70 with the 20th Anniversary label (same coin but from the set) goes for over $800 while the MS 20th Annie goes for around $60

I would send you a Mint box since I usually have a bunch from submissions but all my 2006's were from the 20th Annie sets (I have a bunch of those boxes)

A good find but there would be no way to to definitively attribute it with the three coin set.

I know PCGS doesn't have a minimum for moderns, if someone wants to pay for it theyre more than happy to do it. Their quarterly special usually has a 3 coin minimum though.
