I bought a BU roll and about half of the roll is clashed and cleaned up. It appears I might have a few different clashed varieties and die states. I am going to try and pick up another roll tonight.

I know most people probably don't collect minor clashes or clean ups, but I felt it was cool to enough to share. Some of them have some scribbling polishing. The reverse of one of the pennies looks liks someone scrubbed it in all directions with sand paper.

Cleaned up?
Maybe die polishing lines?

Correct, they are die polishing lines. The mint workers "cleaned up" a clash by polishing the die. You can see trace remnants of the clash.

I have never graded a cent. Are either of the 2 I show worth getting graded?

No. A MS-65 coin is worth just a few cents. Heritage auctions show a MS-66 that sold for $17. So it would cost more to have it graded than the coin would be worth. I bought a 1940-P that is circulated and has a new unlisted yet DDR on it. It would cost $13 to have it attributed as a new listing. So having a coin graded doesn't raise the value for an inexpensive coin. When I buy a coin I only pay raw prices them even if the are slabbed. So having a common coin slabbed to me makes no sense.

yeah I have a TON of these. Some of the ones I have found, like this one I posted is kinda cool.

I have a 1964 here somewhere, where the entire front of the coin is so scratched up from trying to cover up the clash, it looks like it should have been part of the design. If I can find it, I'll post a pic of it.

Here is the 1964, from a far.

This Coin has more scratches than the lifetime of a cat infested with Fleas for over 20 years !

Close ups of the craziness on request! = )
