I'm assuming it's MD, but I figured I should ask the experts. I can just barely make out doubling in LIBERTY, but can see it pretty good in the date and mint mark. To me, the doubling on the date appears to be rounded. But my eye isn't trained yet.

May be two things going on here: MD and a weird halo effect that is common to the Zincolns. MD on Liberty and the halo effect on the date.

Took another pic of the mint mark. It looks like the doubling is actually etched into the coin, and not raised. Looks odd.

It's MD or Die Deterioration because the effect is going toward the rim. Coop has a good explanation of this.

That shadow doubling is a form of Die Deterioration seen on Zincolns while the mintmark is affected by split plating(very common on mintmarks).

Biokemist6 has it right. it is Die Deterioration. Happens a lot on the zincolns possibly because of the lower profile of the devices. But common.
