Some would send this 2014 1/10th Oz. Proof Gold Eagle back to the Mint for a Pristine coin.....not me...the struck-thru wire or string reverse should make this a very desirable error coin! Funny way to start with my VERY first gold coin! Sending to NGC for an error slab..so, how many more will be reported? Did the Inspection team stop this right away, or, let a whole bunch get "loose"? Time will tell! Calvin *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

I think that they only catch major errors like planchet errors or coins that are underweight or overweight. Your coin should contain more gold, no? I doubt the handlers look for die variations the way we do.

The weight will be the same as one without the struck through. Some like them as errors, other want the higher graded coins. The price of the higher grade to me would be worth having a nice coin. IMOHO Look at a grading chart and notice how the 66 and higher coin prices change. http://www.bestcoin.com/gold-commem...903-1926.htm

I am curious as to the color of your box/case? Mine came in an orange/brown box & case, different than the blue case on the web page.

Ok, good to know it is not some kind of mint mix-up.
