I found this coin while coin roll hunting last night and wanted to know if it would carry a premium if it is Struck Through Grease? The reason I ask is because of the 1921-D Morgan dollar with the S in TRUST (TRU_T)missing. Why does it carry such a high premium? Here are pictures of my coin.
The NT on CENT is also affected. Not much of a premium for struck through errors on most denominations. But the Silver Dollar ones seem to ones people are interested in. Not me. I like the ones with more extreme Grease Fill on the devices.
Cents are more interesting to collect, while nickels seemed to be mostly ignored. a variety cent is usually a higher premium than a nickel variety. Seems like there are more interest in a certain series than others. You can buy a roll of proof nickels for less/same price than a roll of proof cents.
I still save the milder Struck Through Grease, but put them into a tube rather than put them in 2X2s. If I need a coin for images, I have one ready on hand. Here are a few examples of storage I keep on hand in tubes: 1. Feeder fingers 2. Lathe lines 3. Extreme die wear 4. Extreme die cracks 5. Die clashes (Strong ones) 6. Extreme die gouges 7. Extreme die markers 8. Extreme die scratches 9. Extreme Machine Doubling 10.Rim issues I save these in case I need a image quickly, (If I don't already have one) I can find it and take an image and be able to post it in minutes.
