Its that time. I've begun to wind down my collection by dumping it onto ebay. Its a difficult thing to do, but it will free up space and allow me to display stuff better (and it's all going towards my education).

However, I have one or two pieces that require a better platform than ebay (I dont want to sell a Zenonis for 99p). Where is the best place to go? I doubt a fancy auction house would take the stuff, but who knows.

I assume they give you a number of free listings ? You might simply list your Zenonis at a much higher price and see if you get any action. I am myself forced to liquidate much of my own collection as the bills have simply become too much to ignore any longer. I listed the Zeno monogram I had posted not so very long ago and it sold in under 12 hours ! Obviously I should have listed it a 'tad' higher but what the heck ..... it was more than double what I paid so I should not complain about it ! I put one of the Anastasius monograms up for auction and realized $56. A bit disappointing but overall not too bad really.

A profit is a profit !

You will probably never realize what a large dealer will get but you need remember
the big dealers have big overhead.

I've had success using Buy-It-Now with Make an Offer on ebay Ben.

So long as the price isn't ridiculous you start with what you'd like and work your way down to what's acceptable to both seller and buyer. They don't have to wait until the listing ends to get their coin and it's not as off-putting as an auction with a high starting price.

You can even set it up so if someone suggests an amount equal or greater than your minimum ebay will accept it automatically for you.

Thats a good plan. I dont have free listings (I think?), but Its worth a couple of quid to give it a go. I've already listed a lot of good stuff in auction format from a 99p start, so lets hope they achieve (it might be prudent to take the 6p hit and relist them as buy-it-nows).

I will say a plan to get some free listings, is to post only a few to learn by and wait til the week goes by (So yu learn) and yu get paid ship all that jass to learn and know..Afterwards if yu wait a while the Bay will send yu e-mals offering you free ones (They will hav to be a certain format as buy-now or Auction) (They will be on a time schedule-free for this certain week or 2 only)....Eventually as time goes by each type of transaction should hav this (I will call it a). coupon for yu to use...

You could also consider consigning it with a VCoins seller. They would charge you about 10% of the sale price, but the visibility might be worth it.

Sensibly priced Buy-it-Nows are a decent bet but think Paul's Vcoins route could also be good.

You want them to sell so they need to be set low enough for that to happen but you don't wan't to give them away, if your 'attached' to items this can be a difficult thing to do.

Search for similar successfully sold items to see what the market value is. Items are only worth what others are prepared to pay for them, no more.

I would agree with Paula and Bobby on VCoins, the exposure you will get will be worth the overhead fee.

Zenonis is all over the place - from $200 to $3100. I've decided to just put a ridiculous high price up for the moment and hope that people will put in lowball offers. If not, its only £1.40 down the drain. Fingers crossed, because If I sell them at the ludicrous high price, I can stop gutting my collection.

EDIT: on the subject of Vcoins, ill look into it.Its not a route I've previously taken. I have 30 days to find out, because I'm assuming the higher value stuff isn't going to sell.

A reasonable enough place to start I guess. Rare things are always difficult to value.

well ben, I hope it goes well for you..and the selling isn't to painful.

that semis is absolutely stunning! you may want to put in some stats, like size and weight and stuff like that. I know I always check out all that stuff when I buy non-bargain bin coin.
