Hi guys...Take a look at this 1960 cent...looks like Die Deterioration but it only happens between the pillars and goes right to the edge of the coin..Could it be a defective planchet..?..Thanks

John1...Wouldnt a strain affect the pillars to..I am no expert though...

Looms like some sort of discoloration to me, I don't think it is deterioration.

It looks like a stain or some gunk. Yes, a stain or gunk would affect the pillars, and you can kind of see that on the close-up third photo. Also, a stain or gunk on the pillars will wear off there first as they are high. The low areas are protected so the stain or gunk will remain.

If you look closely it does affect the pillars. Otherwise I would agree with you in that it was a planchet issue. Just looks like a streak of gunk or light corrosion.
