1960 Cent - Die Deterioration..? - Coin Community Forum

wert Rest in Peace 1988 Posts	Posted 04/13/2014 6:06 pm Hi guys...Take a look at this 1960 cent...looks like Die Deterioration but it only happens between the pillars and goes right to the edge of the coin..Could it be a defective planchet..?..Thanks Report this Post to the Staff

Yes, a stain or gunk would affect the pillars, and you can kind of see that on the close-up third photo. Also, a stain or gunk on the pillars will wear off there first as they are high. The low areas are protected so the stain or gunk will remain. Report this Post to the Staff
