Hi Everyone,

I am about to buy this coin at a premium price. It says MS-64 from ICCS but the coin barely looks like an MS-60.

Can you help me please? do people tamper with the ICCS packaging?

It's very hard to get ICCS to validate anything. They won't take the pictures...

Please help. Thanks

I understand your confusion.

ICCS is very technical in it's grading and does not take toning or eye-appeal or strike into it a grading like NGC or PCGS.

While this coin may not look MS-64, it is technically, based on the amount of marks and surface cleanliness. Still the toning is unbalanced and unappealing so I personally wouldn't buy it.

I would personally pass on this, Buy the coin, not the grade.
If you are questioning the purchase before buying it, more than likely you will never be truly happy with it in your collection for what you had invested in it.

Very true, good advice. But here's the issue. This gentlemen is selling me a graded AU-55 1948, MS-63 1935, and this MS-64. All for $1400 he won't even entertain the idea of selling them separately. It's a package deal or he walks away...

What should I do? I really only care for the 1948...

As you have just experience, there is a good graded ms 64, and a bad ms 64, if the 48 is a good au 55 go for the deal, the other 2 coins are almost free. at 1400.00

Impossible to tell based on that photo. The apparent lack of detail is probably due to the toning and the lighting of the photo.

Good luck. I hope it turns out well for you. My concern would be the true grade of the 48, if you are worried about the other.
