I will add this one to my cherrypicking list for the next show--I'll post mine if I find one.

I was curious to check about 50 proof random State Quarters and I found a lot that the 2nd strike was just simply way off. I'd say out of 50, about 15 were noticeable and a handful were almost visible to the naked eye like the ones below. I concentrated only on "In God We Trust" and no other area.

I have not given up on this hunt. I have procured a roll of 40, and 20 quarter sets from proof sets and the quarters proof set and there is definitely a variety. The one I've posted above has (and I hate to admit) been Double Struck. but searching through a small sampling of fifty, 17 have a different die with the same doubling as appears in the DOLL in this previously posted pic http://www.coincommunity.com/forum/...SHDD2014.jpg in 1/3rd of my sample there is doubling in the bottom loops of DO and in most cases the LL as well as the E in quarter on the top of the bottom leg.
I will post pics soon. This is definitely a major die variety (in my quite often wrong jump to conclusions type attitude).

Ain't coins GREAT!

Interesting coin and post(s) concerning TPG's usually giving recognition to only known varieties. Never knew, now I do.

Amazing pictures! First and second glance has me seeing a combination MD and DD. Hope it grades as well or better.

Or they felt it was not a doubled die? I wish they would have said either way?
