It's called a Columbian Exposition half dollar. Made out of 90% silver, these were made in 1892 and 1893 to commemorate Columbus's voyage to the Americas. they were sold for $1 at the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago, 1893. leftovers from the sales entered circulation like yours. In the condition above, Fine, they retail at about $10~15.

They are the most affordable/obtainable older commemorative half dollars out there in circulated grades.
