This coin has a great luster which is not obvious in the photos.

I'm at high AU. Has the coin been polished? I see a couple of marks spread across the Obverse and there seem to be some luster breaks.

I had the exact same thoughts as zxcccxz.
From first look, the obverse looks cleaned and unnatural.

That said, I've seen enough coins from you to trust you'd identify such coin if you came across it, so I'll just refrain from suggesting a grade.

Oh, hello.

The obverse bothers me not at all, but the upper left quadrant of the reverse is a little concerning. With that said, I don't see any of it as other than incidental to the slight circulation this coin has seen.

I can get on board with AU55+ for this one. Better than 55, not 58.

I agree that this isn't cleaned/polished.

I'm at AU50/53 on this, more wear than I care to see for a higher grade.

Thanks for all the input. Here is what I know about this coin. I bought it at the LCS for $250 last week. The dealer informed me that the discoloration seen at the bottom of the obverse under the 8 and also on the 9 was the result of contamination from a rusty staple in the old 2x2 that it was stored in when he bought it from a customer. He said he dipped just the bottom portion and it improved it but that it is still noticeable. Otherwise I agree with Super Dave that the obverse is problem free. This coin has exceptional eye appeal in hand actually. When I was in the LCS I did not notice the the upper left quadrant of the reverse that Super Dave mentioned, but then I took a look at the coin outside on a sunny day and after checking out the luster which nearly blinded me I saw those faint scratches also. I don't know what to make of those. Perhaps die polishing?
