A local coin shop has this in there main case. As a curiosity I took some pics of it to post here for your expertise.

What do you all think about this one?

Is it graded? There is something that just does not look right about it to me.

Looks cleaned for sure. I'm also finding the design a bit off around the eye.

The main diagnostics for determining a real 1893-S are wrong. It is fake.

I'm seeing the same sort of things, location of the "1" in the date is not quite right relative to the denticles, and the whole date lacks the correct upward slant. I'd scrutinize the mintmark, I'll bet it's been added, and the coin cleaned up to make it less obvious.

Looking at a picture of a real one from NGC and I see that the front line of the neck coming down points directly to the third denticle left of the 1. On this one it points to the second denticle, not to mention that the point of the neck is really rounded on this one, more so than any other Morgan I've seen. The neck line points to the second denticle in the 1893-P.

There is only one obverse die for this issue and this "coin" is not a match. The date position is off by one full denticle. Inform the dealer that he is trying to sell a fake.
