Hi All,

I wanted to get your opinion on this. I won an auction today for the following e-bay item coin: 321380004588

I am excited about this for its my first 19th Century Nickel for my collection.

All opinions on price and condition is appreciated as always.

What I look for in the lovely V nickel series (one of my favorite coins) is are there any kernels of corn visible in the left ear at the bottom of the reverse? It's typically not well struck so if any corn is actually showing you got a nice strike.

Can't really tell from pics on ebay, good luck. It otherwise looks real nice, the obverse stars show very little wear.

Lovely. For 21 dollars, that was a bargain.

You did well. Every week I put in a bid for a MS-64 V nickel and a PF-62. Maybe I will get lucky one of these weeks.

I think you scored! Blowing up the pictures on ebay shows nice details on the stars, hair, and right corn stalk. The only thing I could find that is negative about the coin is the date looks weak at the bottom of the 1st 8 and the 3, but other than that it looks like MS-64 to me. I would think this is at least a $50 coin.

John,
I looked for the weaknesses as well and they are there.
But under $25 with shipping? Really well done!
What I do like is the absence of any discoloration which is common in these nickels.
The left hand corn is flat, but the right hand corn shows the kernels.
Even 21st century nickels have weak strikes.
It just looks great in the picture.
Congratulations.
