Proof Seated dimes are my passion, so this really caught my eye tonight.

Here's the story.

Here's a story about the coin from 2008
http://www.ngccoin.com/news/viewart...DArticle=987

It received a holder update and is now up for auction at Heritage.

The internet bidding is about to end but the live auction will take place in Chicago tomorrow during floor session # 5

I wish I had the money to bid.

New England is fortunate to have Gerry Fortin.
I have met him twice and he is my go to guy for Seated dimes.
At one NH Coin Expo there was a line-up of Seated dimes that took up two full tables.
Both a proof collection and a regular strike collection; both top rated. I only wish that
I could comprehend what a once in a lifetime opportunity was in front of me.
I was helping to staff the Barber table, BCCS, and spent a lot of time next to these coins.
If you cannot collect this 1891-O Proof Dime, then by all means archive the photos and the write ups for further research down the line.

I also was fortunate enough to see that Seated dime collection in NH. It was simply amazing!

I'm left wondering which Trade dollars are now far scarcer than thought due to the 3 million melted for new coinage, as mentioned in the first article.

The photography difference between article one and the HA listing are incredible. Amazing coin. Just a touch too rich for my current blood but best of luck to the eventual winner. I wonder if they'll resale at what point in time and make a profit.

"and then compared them to the branch mint proofs that he called "dishes of peacock's tongues.""
breen seems to have had a way of ruining everything.
