This coin is really beat up, but I have a question. Is it possibly a lamination error below the "IN GOD WE TRUST"? The area in question is not raised but is concave/sinking below the letters and face of the coin. Also the "I" is missing from "IN". I'm not sure how a "road kill coin" could take off the cladding without removing all of the "IN GOD WE TRUST" letters completely but removing the cladding surrounding those letters. Thanks for any input.

I don't know, but if it is, it doesn't matter because of the condition of the coin.

I think honestabe's post is rather to educate himself on this rather if it has a value.
I wish I could help you out Honestabe but I don't know what going on with this quarter.

if it is not from road rash then it would be grease but not lamination

Ok just so we are all the same page the coin is junk right? We all agree on this? So purely for informative reasons would not a grease strike have filled letters? From what I have seen anyway the grease would fill the letters in the die first. Thus making them disappear before any of the field. Just throwing this out there.

As a side note, why would you look at this coin for errors?

Gary is correct, it's struck through an obstruction, likely grease. And yes, the coin is worth 25 cents...there is no premium value because the coin is not numismatically collectible due to condition.
