I came across a 1975 dime with no mint markings and need help determining if this dime is a rare item or if it's one of many. Can anyone offer their expertise? Thank you!

This is one of many. no mint mark means it was minted in Philadelphia. D or S would mean Denver or San Francisco.

Ok thank you. I have a 1946 Wheat penny with a D marking. Now I know it's origin. You helped out and I thank you!

The Roosevelt dime started having mintmarks for Philadelphia in 1980. A "P" is the mintmark for Philadelphia.

The dime doesn't have a P or D. It must be one of many as Duncan stated. I'm new to this. I thank you for your help.

And I must add that the West Point Mint made a 1996-W dime with a "W" mintmark to commemorate the Rosie dime's 50th anniversary. They were issued only in Mint Sets and it is the only year Rosie dimes were made in West Point.

Good to know. I'll keep my eye out for any of the suggested coins.

I recommend that you buy "a Guide Book of United States coins," also called "the Red Book" (because of its red cover). It is a great source of information that will help you with basic US coin facts, like the location of the mintmark and the mintage.
