You have been hunting some scarce coins and all of a sudden you have sellers offering you key date coins. Not just one or two or three but FOUR. Bear in mind that these are coins that I have been hunting for more than five years easily and they rarely pop up in auctions. One of them turns out to be a coin that I have been hunting for more than ten years!

I might be able to afford a couple but it's a killer to see that many key coins offloaded at once when hunting one is trying to look for hen's teeth.

Now what would you do? Start to offload all your duplicates? I'm quite lost for words.

Well, gxseries, it sounds as if you have a focus on certain coins.
In doing so perhaps you have neglected other series. If the others
are no longer as compelling to you then consider selling these.

In focusing on the Barber Series I have sold off many collections that were
just so-so. Lincoln Wheat Cents, Buffalo nickels, two sets of Mercury dimes and a bunch of common silver. All complete. Just not riveting to the eye.

Also, I have used a cash plus trade deal which some dealers appreciate.
In return for my efforts I have a complete set of Barber Nickels in VF and up.
The gem is a complete set of Barber dimes which make dealers sit up and take notice.

"When it rains, it pours" and perhaps another collector sold his/her collection.
This is a reason why several tough coins are offered all at once.

I seldom quote scripture, but the merchant, having found a pearl of great price,
sold all that he had to acquire it. Does this sound like you? If so, then
you have the answer to your happy dilemma.

Beg, borrow or something to get the money to buy all of them.
A long time ago I saw a car for sale that I really, really wanted. Not sure if it would even fit in my garage and the cost wasn't that bad. Just one more old car that I may never find parts for. Talking about it with some friends, a lady said think of this. IF you don't buy it and every time you see one or a similar one, you'll say I really should have. Darn I really should have. IF you do buy it, no matter what in the future, you'll always be able to say I've got it. I like it. It's great. If not, can always get rid of it but you can't get rid of something you never had.

AMEN just carl. My only regrets are the coins that I did not buy when I had the chance.
Spending 4 figures on a coin took me a week and a phone call to the seller. Only time
I ever called an ebay seller. Searching for a comparable example has proved to be without result. I have never regretted the purchase.
That the coin was destined to go to the Baltimore Show pushed me to buy.
It would have sold in a heartbeat.

Ask the seller if he will wait a while for payment, something similar to this happened to me few weeks ago, I contacted the seller and asked if he could wait 10 days, he agreed.

All worked out well.

Well, carl, thanks for bringing up some bad memories. A few years ago I passed on buying a car that I really wanted. Now every time I drive past the previous owner's house (in my neighborhood), or see a similar one rolling down the street, I think "Why didn't I just buy that thing? I could be driving it right now."

Also, some dealers will accept a deposit to hold coins.
They are my favorites.
One dealer I know told me he has held coins for up to a year.
For really nice coins, a dealer can always sell later.
One more reason to cultivate a relationship based upon trust.
Say, 10 to 20 per cent should work.

Go for all four, then you have them. You can always part with a few later if needs be.
I LOVE trade + cash, I get all sorts of fun stuff that way, usually obscure stuff too. I'll also hold coins on deposit, done it before and I'll do it again.
Things I won't do: ship on partial payment, sell on credit to people I haven't done business with before.
