Just got this 1937 50 Cent that I would like your opinions on.
Although not shown very clearly in the photos this coin has a lot of original mint lustre with a little toning at the bottom of the obverse.

I could be wrong, but it appears to have been cleaned by a chemical and the toning is more of a chemical burn than age toning. VF30 + condition

..that's what I thought too.. it looks like someone held a match to it.

EF-40 or so but, the darn toning takes away eye appeal IMO

I can assure you this is not an asyn coin... Lol
Got this from a private sale and it is still in a very old cardboard holder which from the looks of it has contained this coin for many years. The mark is definitely toning although I do agree that the picture looks like it is burnt or something.

As far as cleaned, I don't think so but who knows what someone may have done years ago...

I know those holders, they are old and I've seen them leave a lot of PVC on coins too, so change that 2x2.

I grade it EF-45. I see very little wear on the reverse and don't see any cleaning, not sure why my grading is so far above the others?

Absolutely XF40+. Where the heck are the VF30 folks seeing that kind of wear?
