Bought from a reputable dealer so I am not concerned about it being a fake. Also bought it under the assumption it would go in a details holder as being cleaned, though I've seen much worse come back with a grade. What do you think?

Nice dollar! Same date I currently have in my 7070, lol (my only Seated dollar in there so far). I'd put it around VF-30, maybe 35. It's probably been cleaned at some point in it's life, (as roughly95% of all pre-1900 coins), but it doesn't appear to have been harshly cleaned. It looks good to me, a nice coin, again, most definitely dipped as the majority of coins of this era, but being from 1843, I say who cares, lol, again, it looks great and if you like it that's all that matters.

Wether a TPG would deem it market acceptable is anyone's guess, lol, I've seen details graded slabbed coins that seemed perfectly market acceptable to me and likewise harshly cleaned coins in details free slabs... It's really a toss up.. One of the reasons I like raw (or break um out)

I have it at VF-30, if it has been cleaned then the cleaning is very old because the coin has retoned nicely.

I don't think you can realize just how hard it to find these with good eye appeal and at a decent price until you actually go about locating one. I think this is a great example. If it was lightly cleaned at one point, it has nicely retoned. Solid mid-VF coin.

I agree with the above comments. VF-30 with nice eye appeal, perfect for a circulated 7070.

Nice coin! VF30 with an old cleaning that would be market acceptable IMO. Looking for one to put in my 7070 and this one I'd be proud of!
