I found a Vermont quarter that has either a weak strike or die adjustment strike error and I've had no luck in finding a price for this coin.

Could someone help with this? I'm going to try having some coins graded soon and was wondering if it would be worth sending in for grading.

For a piece like this, there are many factors that go into pricing it. Condition (as always), severity of the error, what details are left, etc.

Also, are you sure it is a weak/low pressure strike? Could it be a Grease Filled Die?

Any way, its hard to price an error like this without pics, as zeke has already stated.

Unfortunately I don't have any way to take pictures of it at the moment but I'll try to describe it as best I can.

The lettering on both sides is blurred almost like you're looking at it through a camera that's out of focus. The details on Washington's head are not all there, the strands of hair look like they're matted down. The mint mark is blurred like the other letters but you can still tell its a P.

On the reverse the trees have little detail compared to other Vermont quarters from the same mint, branches are less detailed too. The person in the center has no details other than the outline. It's missing one of hills in the background and the top of another. The hills are also less detailed. Lettering is same as obverse blurred.

The reeding is also very light compared to others.

Thanks for any help you can give me and sorry for lack of pictures. Will try to get a camera that works soon.

Pictures are essential for giving any idea of value for a coin. So many variables.

The rims look a little different from the other quarters. How should the rims look if its a weak strike?

Weak strike the rims should be very weak to nonexistent. Grease filled strike the rims would be normal to unusually strong.
Rest in Peace
