Quote: And I can't afford a 500$ box of halves sadly lol WHO is buying a box of half's?... I'm only just borrowing it get $500 in halves... take it back and pay the power bill... then get a box of dimes(250) and a box of nickels(100)... TAKE them back and pay the phone/internet bill and gas up the car for more bank runs... and get one box of dimes or 2 boxes of nickels... Take them back and buy groceries and get another box of nickels... Even on a fixed income under $700/Mo you can still go through $5000+ in a month... with a ton of time and gas.. but heck it's still fun

ASLAN is right on. I do mine a little differently, but it essentially amounts to the same thing. I take my boxes out of checking and return them to savings.

Quote: how many rolls would you say you go through a week or per month? oh gosh! I recently went through 2 boxes of halves and 2 boxes of cents on Friday and Saturday. so 4 boxes per week is probably my limit before my eyes die on me. each box has 50 rolls in it, except for $1 coins, there is only 40 rolls. If it were dimes it would take me a week to get through a box, most others can be done in about a day (open roll, search all coins, reroll the ones I didnt keep).

Not bad keep it up. Its all about that one find.
I have only been CRH'ing for about a year now and only do about $200 a month. I was finding nothing except a few mint error's and foreign change and almost gave up. I recently moved to a small town with my fiance and decided to hit up a few of the banks in the area. once again nothing big. No boxes of anything. Just asking for customer rolled halfs and quarters. Well the first bank we stopped at had 50 dollars in customer rolled halves so I took them and about 20 in quarters. I had planned on opening them when we got home. But I curiosity got the better of me and I sneaked a peak at one of the half rolls. And their was a 69 staring at me with a light rainbow tint. I was thinking this is awesome. My first silver ever. As I started to pour the coins in my hat I started to hear a sound that gave me goosebumps. That silver cling. The entire roll was nothing but 65's through 70. I started screaming with joy and out. While my fiance is looking at me like I'm nuts. I immediately started looking through the other 4 rolls. Out of a total of 100 coins, 48 of them were 40 percenters.
So I guess I'm writing this to say keep it up and don't let anyone say it aint worth the time. Because if you keep chasing that white whale. Eventually youll get it.

@morgand33. I was smiling while I read your post! That feeling is what it is all about. The sad thing is after a day or two you start wanting to look for your next fix. I've had 100's of moments like the one you just described. I'm never satisfied, I keep looking for my next Yahtzee!! I don't think I'll ever stop looking for the next score. I'll only stop when I'm dead. Keep Clicking....

@ MR. Click. I totally agree. If the hook wasn't already set good. Now it is. Most of the local banks have now recognized what I'm doing and I think tell me they don't have any just because. I've also had a few tell me that their is someone else in the area who is doing the same. Which is great. I have no issues with competition. To me its just a hobby. But I think they were asked not to give me any and save for him. A little upsetting. But thats not going to stop me from asking. And eventually I'll open an account at one of them and use it. But for now its metal detecting and buying a few rolls here and their on ebay. I hear a lot of people say ebay is not the place for buying silver. But if you do some searches and don't just jump on the first thing you see. You can get some decent prices. For all the silver I've bought on ebay I've never paid more then 3-5% over spot. Including Shipping. So yeah. I don't think I'll stop either. I even have my fiance going into the banks for me and asking when ever theirs a male teller. haha. Turining it into a family affair.

@morgand33. You lucky dog! You better marry that girl. My wife used to get upset when I click clacked(that is what she called it back when I first started)in front of the T.V. at night. I told her to get used to it because I'm a Addict. I got a friend of mine hooked too. He goes by Mr. Clack. We named ourselves after my wife's nickname for the hobby.

Haha, well considering it was my first try and CRH, and my first roll had a silver... thats like fishing and catching a monster on your first cast. even if you sit there all day and dont have another bite, it was still a successful day! I cant wait to hit up some of the smalltown banks during my travels in the coming weeks! I will make sure to update you all on my finds!
