I've seen that PCGS SP68s seem to go for less than the coin in OGP. For example, some of the 2010s can be had in the $170 range in PCGS 68, but it seems they are around $225 in OGP. Can anyone provide any insight as to why this is?

I'm guessing that because of the handling and strike quality, the average ATBis around 67 or 68, so at that point, thr Original Packaging becomes more valuable than a PCGS slab.

A buyer knows that a coin graded as MS68 is only a MS68.

An ungraded coin has the potential to grade 69 or 70 and people like to gamble or at least convince themselves that their ungraded coin is a 70 even if it is no better than the slabbed 68.

Yep. And folks will pay more for the ungraded one...then pay to have it shipped and graded, only to (possibly) come back a 68.

Buy the coin...not the wrapper.

Don't forget that any of the pucks that you have graded and come back as 68's can always be put back in their OGP very easily....

Just sayin'
