My goodness. I've never even held a metal detector but have always been interested in starting some day. It is posts like these where I'm in awe. You must have spent so much time search to find all of this. Congrats and there are some great coins in there.

Duncan, you are right I spent over 200hrs detecting last year. 95% of these found in public parks in Buffalo. Its really location, location, location. Old ball fields are silver mines. I had one park that provided me 47 of my coins last summer. The Northeast is where its at. I am in Arkansas now and my finds have slowed down a lot. There simply has not been the population in the past here to drop the coins like folks have done in Buffalo for 200yrs!

Incredible! Everything is in such good condition. My oldest find is only from 1952...

I was just gonna ask how many hours and where. That is awesome. I come up to buffalo about once a year, maybe I should be searching around!!

Buffalo is great for detecting, so is Pittsburg, or any other bigger older city. Where there were people there were DROPS. My suggestion is if you don't have a detector, then get you a decent entry level and see if the hobby is for you. Watch videos on proper recovery of targets, and just have fun.

Wow! Makes me want to take up the hobby! I have always wondered about the rules as to where you can do this without getting into trouble and also find some good stuff.
