Hey coin enthusiasts! This has been somewhat of a cool interest to me since I was a kid. I never started an official collection with the coins I ran across until now. My best friend, who is a big collector and member here, gave me this and I wanted to show everyone. This is a 1943 Mercury dime!! *** Moved by Staff to a more appropriate forum. ***

Great coin to start a collection! My 1st coin was a Canadian Glow-in-the-Dark Dinosaur. Now, I have...hmmm...yep, that many!

Congrats Matt. Cool Dime and from here on your going to be broke due to non stop coin purchases. You are now hooked with the collectors bug. Enjoy it! Keep showing what you accumulate and for the sake of the more experienced graders here (not me) try to take very clear close macro photos with soft even light (no hot spots). This will help in future posts.
I got into coins as a kid but then stopped for 20 years or so. Now I am 31 and back into it hard. How old are you if you don't mind me asking?

Very nice start - you can't go wrong with a classical Mercury dime. Now, go ahead and test your grading skills on it! That's what I did, I got a coin and studied every part of it and learned as much as I could out of it. Was a very good way to learn when I only had a few old Korean coins.

Welcome Matt - what a great gift from a friend. That's exactly how I got started, back in the early years of my youth. A fellow 5th grade buddy was a collector and gave me an old Shield nickel... I later purchased several other coins from him (Mercury dime, a couple old Washington quarters)... that set the pace for a lifetime of enjoyment. Congrats & welcome again, ET
