I just received this 1812 Bust Half Dollar, O-110 I think. I'd appreciate your comments and opinions on grade. I'll post the PCGS grade in a day or two.

AU-53 assuming that luster in hand is a bit better than shown in the photos.

The detail looks AU but the coin appears stripped of it's original patina and likely dipped several times. I doubt PCGS will grade this coin problem-free and if they do it will likely be silently net-graded to XF for the surfaces that are void of "life".

I'm sorry to say that most experienced collectors do not want coins with this appearance.

I agree with BH1964, it's got the details of a low AU but the it's likely taken quite a few dips. Please don't misinterpret my response as mean-spirited but I don't believe PCGS will straight grade it and even if they did, it's not I coin that I'd want in my collection.

If you're happy with it, though, that's what matters.
