Sure looks like you did. Good that it's slabbed, because there are fake missing lettering coins out there.

Sounds like you got a good deal for that dollar! The PCGS price seems to be rather on the high side, though.

You did get a good deal. Although don't go by PCGS price guides. They are completely inaccurate on moderns. I have a 2011-S PR70-DCAM Shield Cenis which is listed by PCGS as $200+ but which I bought for $11 and what regularly sells for $25> on ebay.

If I recall most of the missing edge lettering were an inside job and after market settled the value as around $75.
If you paid $6 then you made at least 12X what you paid.

Quote: If I recall most of the missing edge lettering were an inside job But those were not satin finish coins, were they? I think the guy suspected of (not sure if he's been convicted or not) mint theft was doing so with regular circulation strike coins since the satin finish special mint set strikes would probably have been too risky (I'd imagine a few too many missing burnished blanks) Take for example Satin Finish vs Circulation Strike Jefferson. So, the one you're looking for, but the PCGS price indicated for a 65 is a tad high. But, you can see three ebay sales prices for 2014 ($126, $104, $130) and two Heritage sales prices for 2014 ($66 and $90). Much better indication of value. (A good deal nonetheless)

Nice deal. I have to ask...where did you get this from?

Thanks for all of the input! $2.25 + shipping on ebay. I don't usually buy anything over face value, but when I saw the pcgs price guide on this I figured I could risk $6.

I'd say you did quite well! I think the $75 figure is only for Washington pieces... Adams and Jefferson are supposedly much more rare. I've never heard of a Godless Q. Adams dollar before... those were close to the time they moved the motto to the obverse if I recall?
If you're smart in reselling this, I'd imagine you could get ballpark $100-150 for this.

That's the goal. :) I am totally NOT into the Presidential dollars for some reason. I much prefer the other denominations!

I just stopped by my LCS and he said it looks legit. Whew! He said he's seen fake ones and has even had the FBI involved on some fakes before. Crazy!

I didn't think the FBI got in on those, usually the SS
