chrsb uncovered this in another thread, but it's so insulting to our intelligence that I thought it deserved it's own thread.

So we have this auction where the seller states "These Wheat penny's come from my great aunts estate she loved to collect coins, but I don't so the Bidding starts at 1.99 a roll" Hmmmmmm.....

Let's look at this non-collector's recent purchases....

First, a roll crimper. Cool, he wants to roll up his Aunt's wheaties real nice.

Then... well... ummmm... ahhh.... just look for yourself.

Unbelievable.

That is absolutely hilarious. I can't believe the guy is stupid enough to buy bulk lots of coins, and then turn around and resell them with the same account. ><

I paid $75 for a bag about 10 years ago, I figure I should get about $150 now, about 3¢ a coin. I just am too lazy to bother wanting to sell them, it is such a pain in the bum to ship etc.

Seller didn't even do a good job of rolling and crimping the rolls.

Hey he had to make them look like they were in his Aunts hidden closet for the last 97 years so he did a poor job re-rolling them. LOL

Now these are the guys that need to be exposed.

There are a couple others like this, I found another one a few weeks ago, where they bought the crimper and some wheats. It is ridicules what some of these people do for a buck. I always check a sellers past purchases and feedback before buying. I also look for repeat buyers, there are probably many like myself who are scared to leave the negative feedback because of the retaliatory one that would follow. Last week I bought some "unsearched" 1909-1958 and got 1 1930 and the other 249 were 40-50. Someday I will find a true unsearched lot, or run out of money and patience.

I will look around for the seller that had bought the crimper and wheats, I think his line was the uncle left him some coins.

Doing a quick search and checking past purchases here are a couple that could be doing something sneaky! I also want to say that these people could have a legitimate reason for buying what they buy. I also have had thoughts on sellers opening bank rolls and seeing what is inside, then use the crimper to seal them back up.
http://myworld.ebay.com/super28 crimper selling bank wrapped rolls
http://myworld.ebay.com/dconti23 just bought 5000 1954P cents selling recently acquired estate?

These are just the beginning of what I see looking for wheats. I have found a couple that I believe are unsearched (at lest in the last 20 years). I am not saying that the two above are doing anything funny, it just makes me hit the back button when I am looking for wheats to buy. Someone on the ebay board asked how to sell their wheats, I told what I looked for when I buy
1. A sample handfull and list what is in it (dates, mint marks)
2. A picture of the lot, if in rolls, pictures of the rolls. You can tell by the rolls how old they are. (unless you bought the ones I did and they refilled the rolls and resealed them)

Anyways, happy hunting to the other wheat searchers, it is fun and I spend time with my children doing it so everything is not wasted on a bad lot.

He sold that roll for 2.75 plus shipping. If he sold them all, that would be 137 versus the 100 he paid. Although he probably profits another 50 on shipping. Still, that's processing and shipping 50 orders. I think I'd rather work at McDonald's.
