OP, fantastic find!

I pulled a 1925-P cent out of pocket change two weeks ago. It's been my oldest to date.

best find for me was a tie - a 1904 V nickel and a 1904 almost uncirculated Indian Head cent. the oldest Wheat cent I've found so far is a 1919 - so good find for you. I've searched hundreds of boxes of pennies.

I got 3 wheats: 1947, 1956 and 1958, and one 1949 Jeff when I was in New York, so that's within 3 days! Ironic that I only find pennies that are that old in Canada.

Just be patient Indianaman79, I'm sure you'll find older wheats out there. I found a PVC and verdigris damaged 1912, no wonder it was rolled up.

My oldest finds in circulation were two 1891 Indian Head cents in one of my my old job's tills a year or two ago. I was wondering if someone's hoard was spent when I found them.

Keep looking. I hear more and more stories about people just dumping a jar, can or box of coins they had laying around. They just take to a bank and they get circulated from there.

I am guessing 1918.

1909: not even close.
1910: the "0" is more rounded on a 1910.
1911: The last digit is too fat and oval to be a "1."
1912: The overall shape does not match up.
1913: The "3" on a 1913 is much smaller.
1914: That last digit is way to oval to be a "4." Even after years on circulation.
1915: The shape doesn't match up either.
1916: The "6" still retains its basic shape in lowest of all grades. The last digit is too oval, again.
1917: A "7" is far away from round.
1918: The last digit on the coin is fat and oval - which matches up the shape of "8" on my worn 1918 wheaties.

Therefore, 1918. ;)

it's probably a 1918. That's an awesome find! Congrats! My oldest was an 1899 IHC in a roll of pennies.

A few weeks ago at a hotel in Omaha, I was given a 1910 Wheaty. My oldest circulation find.

Nice car change find! Oldest circ find was a 1887 IHC. Oldest LWC was a 1909 VDB. Finding LWCs in the teens and 20s is not that common. Early 30s too. I generally feel pretty good about a 1936 or earlier find.

I still clearly remember the occasion when I was a teenager.
A shopkeeper showed me a coin he had taken from the till.
He showed the coin to me, because he knew I had an interest in coins.

The coin he showed me?
A British George 111 silver shilling of 1817.
At that time, Australia still had a circulating currency of
Pounds, Shillings and Pence.

Coin roll hunting - 1909 P. It was bent, but I certainly kept it anyway.

Oldest nickel - 1920

Oldest dime - 1936 (recently)

Back when I was a kid I found a 1916 P Merc.
