This is a 2000 P Dollar coin that I received a couple years back. Now I just tried to do some research on it to find out what I can about the coin. For some reason every 2000 P Sacagawea dollar I found online someone is selling it for $900 to $1000. So I have no idea what it is that makes there's worth so much. So I was wondering if anyone could tell me what it is that makes there gold Dollar worth so much since they are not real gold. Sorry for the pictures but my place burnt down not to long ago. So I do not have a good camera anymore and I have not had the time or money to buy one. Thank you to anyone and everyone that replies to my post. Thank you

Don't know where you are looking, but I can find plenty of 2000P's on ebay for a couple bucks. The "Cheerios" dollar that John gave the link for however, can be quite expensive.

The date looks weak, possibly from a partially Grease Filled Die. Some people collect those, but yours may not be worth more that face value.

Thanks for the link John, it was very informative and it makes me want to pull out my Sacagawea dollars. Here is my question: I have a mint roll of these dollars. Do you think I should bust them open and examine them? Curiosity killed the cat but inquiring minds wanna know.

No need to bust open the roll if it came straight from the mint. The reason they are called "cheerios" dollars is because they were included in specially marked boxes of cheerios to get more people interested in the gold dollars. You can tell if it is a Cheerios dollar because the tail of the eagle is much more detailed than the tails of eagles on other dollars. These are pretty rare and I think that not even all the dollars included in the boxes are of the special variety. This is what I have read. I could be wrong about the mint though if anyone says otherwise...

Cindy Wood, If I were you I would open the roll and look for errors/varieties and high grade coins. John1

You won't get a "cheerios" style prototype dollar in a mint wrapped roll. In a BANK or customer wrapped roll maybe. One piece has been recovered from a ban wrapped roll. And not all of the Sac dollars from the Cheerios boxes were the prototype reverse.

I still have my Cheerios Dollar in the original packaging. I hope to have it graded soon. It has the small die polish abrasion on the shoulder that's used to identify the prototype coins that are still in the holder, so I know it's the good one! I even have the original Cheerios Box to go with the coin. The other 2000-P SAC that brings a higher price is the "Wounded Eagle." It has a nice die gouge through the eagle's breast. They can sell for several thousand dollars in mint state. Ben

That's a typo right? Or a joke? 500k? Um no...and how sure are you it's even an experimental rinse if it has not been graded yet? Can't just look at these coins and know from the hue or tone
