Little did I expect that rolls from work could be as good as customer wrapped rolls from a bank! The 1948 is probably one of the nicest 40's nickel I have ever found, but the other find is what blew me away! Pictures are not as nice as I wanted, but the digital camera I used isn't that great. First the 1948P: Now for the guy I NEVER expected to see from a machine wrapped roll at work: Silver War Nickel FTW! Also, I had the picture focus on the date for the War Nickel since I have no idea if it is a 43/2 date. You guys can let me know if I got that lucky .

Nice to get a silver War Nickel in a roll. My rate is about one every 100 rolls!

zxcccxz, I should know the key dates more. Is the 48P one of them or just because it's pretty old?
Thanks.

The 1948P Is neat simply because it's not horribly worn and it is an old date. It is getting pretty hard to find pre 1960 nickels in rolls these days. If you want to talk key jefferson dates you would have to have a lot of luck to get something like a 1950D with a mintage of 2.6 million. I have yet to get one of those in a coin roll, compared to the 2 War Nickels I have found that include the one mentioned in this post.

From what I can barely see of the date, I cant tell. You've always have the mm to inspect for an RPM.

Lucky on the silver. Nickels probably are the least searched coin! You can still find many older coins as well as silver. Hold on to them. The last 'real value' money that is issued!

Nickels are the 'diamond in the rough' when it comes to CRH. Not many people search them, and you may find some nice coins. I've got a nice amount of pre 60's and 2 silvers. Pulled a buffalo as well.
Keep it up!

Those are some great finds, especially for just two rolls! I've only ever found one War Nickel in my roll hunting, so great job!

If it's a 1943/2 you should be able to see the diagonal stroke of the 2 in the bottom half/lower loop of the 3 with magnification. Best Regards, George
