I was finally able to find Zapata in an acceptable condition, and found a couple more that I liked (like Hidalgo). This series of $5 is huge. I also found a commemorative $10 for the Battle of Puebla one day before the celebration. The streets were packed because the president was at Puebla so getting around to see the forts was quite a little journey. The rest of the $10 pieces are either BU or AU at most. The one with the plus sign on it is the best of the bunch - I hope my new scanner can show it properly.

The rest of the haul was in the form of 50 cents and 10 cents pieces, along with coins of the "Nuevo Pesos" series (1992-1995). Hard to find circulating in XF condition, so the ones I have found are not worth showing IMO.

Added in is a 2012 old-style toonie with a bit of off-centering (drool).

Reverse reads:
LIBERTAD
15 DE
SEPTIEMBRE
DE 1821

This was given to me by a cousin-in-law. It wasn't "free" but I didn't pay anything for it either, that's the way the world should work.
A low 720 fine silver coin, "fine" condition is praying hard, most likely VG, many fine details are not there, but the outlines are present.

Closeup pics of previous coins, I hope the quality is a bit better. The man in the first coin is Ignacio Zaragoza was a general in the Mexican army, famous for defeating the French at the Battle of Puebla, 1862. Ultimately the battle had no effect on the war but it is a huge source of pride, especially for Mexicans outside of Mexico (for some reason Cinco de Mayo is a larger celebration outside than inside, Quince de Septiembre is a much larger party). Featured as well on the coin are soldiers and the hills on which the forts lie that stand to this day.

Coins don't scan too great inside mylar flips, do they... These coins look abused when the 1st one looks great, BU.
