The Hard Money Book, written by Christopher Reeves, errr I mean, written by Steven K. Beckner. The guy tries his best not be biased - I've only read up to page 38 so far. Everything from gold/silver, to diamonds, to futures contracts, and foreign currency. The book is out of date (C1979, C1980) but it's cool to see how minds were working back then.

Winter 1981 Charlton (31st edition). Prices were higher than they are now. Unbelievable! Great info on coins, for a catalog that isn't bloated like today's edition. At 243 pages it's light as a couple of feathers!

Got them both for $5 each in Mexico City. English books don't sell over there.

Nice pickups - I always enjoy reading "old" reference books as they provide an interesting historical perspective.

The explosion in modern issues from the Royal Canadian Mint is very evident when you compare older catalogs such as yours with today's two-volume, higher page count Canadian references by the same publisher. The RCM is churning out far too much product (IMO) and has gone beyond "coins" and pushed into artistic metal baubles. The RCM has lost sight of its roots and the traditions of coin collecting - they are now mostly about creating "bedazzled" pop culture coins designed to grab the short-term attention of folks vs. fostering long-term collectors.

Beckner reminds me of Aaron Hotchner (Thomas Gibson) in Criminal Minds.
