This token is identified in Charlton's as LC-48A1.
This grouping combines 4 Doctor Courteau varieties
(21-24 inclusive). Of these, yours is variety 24
having a rarity factor of 1 (common). The condition
is a nice AU 50, perhaps a 55. Nice token.

thanks John, once again a fountain of knowledge. my charlton tokens 8th edition is on it's way so hopefully will be able to find these answers on my own someday!

Q: what would one expect to pay for a token of this grade? I already bought it, and I know I got a grrrrrreat deal, but just curious to know just how good it was.

Concerning the Tiffin series:
Primary diagnostic markers are the positioning of the
Head in relationship to the Y in PENNY. Another is the
placement of the left Hand in relationship to the Bales,
and the placement and size of the Cannon Balls below the
Bales. These diagnostics are beyond what is discussed in
Charlton's.

Again, you token is a common variety, but the condition is
well above the normal. For the most part, this series was
poorly manufactured and the details quickly obscure. The
first to see wear are the individual Grass Blades and yours
shews slight blending or merging of the Blades above the
numeral 8 in the date which would probably prevent this from
being MS. Other areas quickly worn are the details of the
woman's Hair.

The fields appear nice and free of contact marks. Considering
the condition, this token should be worth at least fifty dollars.
